The Outreach and Communications Manager will oversee the roll-out and implementation of all communications and marketing efforts for the West Philadelphia Promise Neighborhood including a public awareness campaign which is designed to reach Promise Neighborhood residents. This role will integrate social marketing, social media, events, partnerships, direct marketing, and public relations. This position reports to the Promise Neighborhood Project Director.
Bachelor’s Degree required.
A minimum of 5 years experience.
Prior experience with non-profit outreach, community mobilization, community organizing and/or marketing preferred.
Knowledge and experience in the areas of education and community development a plus.
Graphic design, photography and video skills preferred.
Experience managing vendor relationships. Highly organized, can work independently, is a good problem solver, has strong verbal and written communication skills.
Able to attend some evening and Saturday meetings or events. Interest in the mission, public sector and community work a definite plus.
Able to work in a fast-paced environment. A personable, helpful team player. The maturity to handle social and interpersonal interactions well.
Maintain social media sites (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter).
Maintain Promise Neighborhood website.
Develop templates for flyers, newsletters, press releases and any written materials (both printed and online) for public awareness campaigns which can be tailored to the needs of partners.
Develop, implement, and track robust media campaign.
Work with the Project Director and Project Management Team to ensure that there is alignment between awareness campaigns, communications materials and project implementation.
Work with the Promise Neighborhood Data and Research team to track awareness outcomes to ensure that project outreach is meeting grant deliverables.
Plan, manage and staff outreach events and competitions to enhance the program’s participants’ experience with technology.
Work with Promise Neighborhood partners to ensure that the communication and awareness strategy is communicated to all partners and develop synergies that will strengthen the overall partnership.
Align outreach and communications with partner organization’s outreach teams and ongoing communication channels.
Build and maintain a robust repository of photography and videos to document the implementation of the project. Support grant writing and fundraising efforts.

This position is supported fully or partially by external funds; therefore, the continuation of employment is contingent on receipt of those external funds.
