This morning, ArtPlace America Executive Director Jamie L. Bennett announced $14.7 million in 55 grants to creative placemaking projects. The projects were selected from the 97 finalists announced in February. Out of the 55 grants, three were awarded to Philadelphia-based organizations:

Last year, ArtPlace grants went to the Department of Making + Doing, the Delaware River Waterfront Corporation (DRWC), Fringe Arts, and Destination Frankford.

In addition, a $475,000 was awarded to Cooper’s Ferry Partnership in Camden, New Jersey for Camden Night Gardens, an artist-led initiative to transform community gardens and open spaces with temporary light, sound, and projections in an effort to visually connect two neighborhoods, North Camden and Cooper Grant, which are separated by the Ben Franklin Bridge. It will also be designed to help draw visitors from Philadelphia across the bridge.
