Bust a move this Thursday morning to benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters

There are better ways to start your Thursdays than hitting snooze a million times, downing convenience store coffee and generally slogging through your morning routine — like joining a dance party that also benefits a local nonprofit.

This Thursday morning, Fitler Square-based Ticketleap is hosting its second 7 a.m. “I Woke Up Like This” benefit for Big Brothers Big Sisters Independence Region at Coda, 17th and Walnut streets.

The idea is simple, yet so brilliant IMO: Start the work day off at a club and party down for a couple hours, feeling good that your money (and sweat, and embarrassment, if you have Mom Moves like I do) is going to a good cause. There’s swag, too — free Saxbys coffee, chair massages — and event add-ons such as contests and a temporary tattoo bar.

“We came up with the idea to throw this event because we were kind of jealous of other major cities having morning dance parties and they weren’t happening in Philly,” said Christina Businsky, marketing and community coordinator at Ticketleap. “We really value in-person events and we felt this would be a great way to connect with our Philadelphia community.”

Worried you’ll miss it for oversleeping? Worry not — your registration comes with wakeup calls.
