2017 Philly Geek Awards = T minus nine days. Are you pumped?

Technically Media intern Asya-Shane Milton is. The teen wrote about her excitement for the awards event in a guest post over at Technical.ly — and that includes, more specifically, her excitement about the cosplay contest.

Not sure what cosplay is? As Geekadelphia EIC Mikey Ilagan described it: “It’s a combination of the words ‘costume’ ‘play’ — so, when people are walking around in their Stormtrooper outfits.” As they do.

Philly news site Billy Penn is serving as the official judge of the inaugural contest. Winners will receive a Billy Penn prize pack.

Asya, the self-professed geek that she is, will be dressing as Bilbo Baggins from “Lord of the Rings.” Check out her argument for attending here. (Hint: Her post mentions the food list, which includes buttermilk chicken skewers. Hnggggg.)

Peep the nominees here. And, as a reminder, here are the basics:

  • When — Saturday, Aug. 26, from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m.
  • Where — String Theory Schools, 1600 Vine St.
  • How much — $40
