Bilingual Program Coordinator
Welcomes returning citizens
Ceiba is a Latino non-profit organization whose mission is to promote the economic development and financial inclusion of the Latino community through collaborations and advocacy aimed at ensuring their access to housing.
The Program Coordinator will spearhead efforts that promote Collective Impact initiatives and the financial development of the Latino community through a holistic approach to asset building that involves financial literacy education, free tax preparation, and access to affordable housing, matched savings programs, public benefits and the Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN).
The Program Coordinator also helps to forge and execute Ceiba’s advocacy efforts around equitable community development.
Responsibilities:
Including but not limited to the following:
- Work with the Executive Director to ensure the efficient running of Ceiba’s programs and activities
- Ensure Ceiba’s compliance with contracts, commitments, grant goals, and service to the community
- Write narrative reports for internal and external distribution
- Help to recruit, manage, and retain staff and volunteers
- Provide direct services and organize educational activities for clients in individual and workshop settings
- Keep up to date on public policy matters relating to Asset Building, Community Development, Affordable Housing, Coalition Building, Latino Affairs, Civil Rights, Immigration, the Rights of the Limited English Proficient, and other issues relevant to the work of Ceiba
- Represent Ceiba at meetings, conferences, presentations, and other events
- Work a flexible schedule, including some weekends
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Required Knowledge and Experience:
- Strong writing, public speaking, and organizing skills
- Facility in recruiting, motivating, and retaining volunteers
- Capacity to build relationships with community residents, community-based organizations, small business, and corporate leaders as well as government officials
- Good negotiating and conflict resolution skills
- Fluent in Spanish and English plus knowledge of Latino culture
- Commitment to the Latino community and knowledge of the dynamics of the City of Philadelphia
- Agility to work on simultaneous projects and to meet their deadlines
- An understanding or willingness to learn about Asset Building, Community Development, Affordable Housing, Coalition Building, Latino Affairs, Civil Rights, Immigration, and other matters relevant to the work of Ceiba
- Experience with advocacy and community organizing efforts
- A college degree preferred but not required
- Availability to work a flexible schedule, including some weekends
