Role Description

ImpactPHL is seeking a strategic, collaborative, and kind individual to join our small (but mighty!) and versatile team. The Director of Brand and Narrative is a new, full-time position and a critical role in support of ImpactPHL’s growing team, work, and opportunity to accelerate our mission.

Our organization is part of a movement to shift financial systems toward a more equitable, sustainable, and resilient local economy in the Philadelphia region. The Director of Brand and Narrative’s primary goal is to help ImpactPHL reach and engage sophisticated financial audiences, successfully get their attention, and support a shift in how they think about and invest their capital. Successful candidates for this role will not necessarily be experts in Linkedin best practices or SEO, for example, but will be able to comprehensively utilize a suite of engagement tools and tactics (ex: design, copywriting, marketing, social media) to move our target audiences to action. They will be up for the challenge of not only growing ImpactPHL’s brand (i.e. vision, mission, and programs), but contributing to the narrative of an accelerating regional and national impact investing movement.

Due to the place-based focus of our mission and work, we’re ideally seeking someone who is based in the Philadelphia region but we are open for the right candidate. Our team works remotely, with local travel as necessary for meetings and events within the region (mostly in the City of Philadelphia). This role works closely with ImpactPHL’s Executive Director and Director of Strategy, and does not have any direct reports. We offer a salary commensurate with experience and benefits. The anticipated start date is mid-late October.

  • Status: Full-Time
  • Location: Remote, with preference for candidates located in the Philadelphia region
  • Travel: Minimal. Some travel may be required locally as needed to fulfill role responsibilities.
  • Compensation: Salary & Benefits (Health, Dental, 401k, PTO)
  • Anticipated Start Date: October 2022

Knowledge/Skills/Experience

  • 10+ years experience with communications, design, copywriting, social media, marketing, storytelling, and/or public/media relations
  • Comfort with and ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative, and entrepreneurial environment
  • Ability to lead work from strategy through to execution (we’re a small team, so doing the little things is part of everyone’s job)
  • Experience with or knowledge of mainstream investing, the financial industry, impact investing, place-based investing, and/or social impact is strongly preferred
  • Experience with advocacy organizations or advocacy work is a plus, but not required
  • Having strong organizational, project management, and communication skills with an eye toward detail
  • A “people person” who is excited to collaborate and problem solve in partnership with various stakeholder groups
  • Basic technical proficiency with the ability to work with Microsoft Office Suite, Google Documents, Hubspot, Squarespace, and newsletter clients.
  • Experience with Canva.com and skill in creating content on this design platform is strongly preferred
