Position Location: Staff currently work remotely due to the COVID-19 pandemic; however, this position will be expected to work from our office in Philadelphia, PA (University City) when conditions allow for in-person work.
Development / Fundraising
The Development Associate is a junior position that supports the Maayan Collective’s fundraising and communications efforts. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Associate
is responsible for developing materials for major gift audiences and researching new fundraising opportunities. The ideal candidate has experience in a multi-faceted fundraising environment, is highly motivated and detail-oriented, has strong writing and communication skills, and can
balance multiple and fast-paced deadlines.
Major Responsibilities Will Include:
Donor Stewardship, Cultivation Materials, and Donor Acquisition
In partnership with COO and Executive Director, write and produce major gift proposals,
stewardship reports, case statements, and other materials for the cultivation/solicitation
of major donors.
In partnership with COO and Executive Director, develop cultivation/solicitation plans for
Write and manage communications for donors, including gift acknowledgements and
periodic leadership messages.
Conduct prospect research as needed.
Project manage, write, and edit Maayan-administered program reports.
Grant Research & Writing
Research grant opportunities from local and national foundations
Write grant proposals in partnership with COO and Executive Director
Maintain donor contact reports on behalf of Executive Director.
Run and maintain reports for prospecting, analysis, to generate mailing lists, annual
appeal lists, etc.
Successful Candidates Will Possess These Preferred Skills and Abilities:
Experience in multifaceted fundraising environment. Major gifts experience a plus.
Excellent written and oral communication skills. Second round candidates will be asked
to submit writing samples.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced work
Self-motivated, highly organized with a meticulous attention to detail and a team-
High level of maturity and personal integrity and ability to understand, develop, and
sustain relationships with donors, colleagues, and senior management.
Ability to manage projects from conception to completion.
Creative thinker who can collaborate and strategize plans to engage donors.
Working knowledge of development software is a plus.
Able to learn on the job quickly.
Education & Experience:
Three to five years of experience in development or communications, preferably in a
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
Experience with CRM/development software a plus
Being Jewish is not a requirement but some knowledge of Judaism is preferred
