About Us

Who We Are

As a Center for Independent Living (CIL), Liberty Resources is a community-based, cross-disability, consumer controlled, non-profit organization. The core of our why is built upon the Independent Living Philosophy, which emphasizes consumer control, the idea that people with disabilities are the best experts on their own needs, having crucial and valuable perspective to contribute and deserving of equal opportunity to decide how to live, work, and take part in their communities, particularly in reference to services that powerfully affect their day-to-day lives and access to independence, which we view as a civil right. We ensure consumer control through both our governance and staffing in that 51% of our staff and board must have a disability.

Through our core services of Advocacy, Information and Referral, Peer Support, Skills Training, and Transitioning/Youth Services we work with our consumers to maintain an independent life full of choice and power. Our staff are an integral part of our work. They stand side by side with consumers to demand equality, independence and to ensure their voices are heard.
