Internship Description

We are seeking a motivated Racial Equity Intern on behalf of The Presser Foundation who is ready to apply knowledge and processes in a real-world environment. The Intern will support the Executive Director, Teresa Rodgers, and the Trustees of the Foundation in aligning our individual, grantmaking, and the Centering Racial Equity working group’s work plans. The internship will provide our Racial Equity Intern with opportunities to develop a broad understanding of the Foundation’s efforts to center racial equity in all of our work and how such efforts might be used to help our grantees and strategic partners to become more equitable, inclusive and impactful.

The Intern will assist in writing a report, conducting research, analyzing data, and making recommendations to assist efforts to center racial equity in all that we do. This will be a valuable experience for any student pursuing a career in philanthropy, music, and/or social justice and anti-racism.

Internship Duties and Responsibilities

• Collecting and analyzing quantitative and qualitative data across grantee organizations and strategic partners;
• Creating organizational assessment tools designed to evaluate the Foundation’s progress on centering racial equity
• Developing organizational change management skills centered in principles of racial equity
• Creating and implementing learning and professional development.
• Assisting in creating a report
• Helping launch new initiatives
• May perform additional projects upon request

Requirements

• Related undergraduate (rising Junior or Senior) or graduate major preferred
• Commitment of 20 hours per week May – July
• Highly organized
• Strong attention to detail
• Excellent written and oral communications skills
• Strong research skills
• Exhibits solid judgment
• Critical thinking skills
• Able to work independently and as a team
• Able to handle multiple tasks
• Self-starter
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Knowledge of history of race relations within the U.S. preferred.

Conditions

• The Presser Foundation has office space at Friends Center at 1501 Cherry Street in Philadelphia.
• Due to the collaborative nature of the internship, it is expected that at least 50% of the Intern’s time will be spent in the office.
