Are you a gaming nerd who loves to play with the latest technology? Are you interested in working with the public to create amazing programs addressing social issues and the future of educational technology? We have an opportunity for an enthusiastic tech trainer to develop programs and a curriculum introducing the use of virtual reality (VR) as an educational tool in public libraries. This is a one year, part-time, grant funded position.

Essential Functions:

  1. Creates a best practices guide to VR for the Free Library
  2. Develops programs introducing VR to the public
  3. Documents best practices in VR programming
  4. Conducts VR programs in libraries and at community partner events
  5. Trains neighborhood library staff to run effective and educational VR programs
  6. Works with library staff to develop and use appropriate tools to measure the outcomes of VR programming
  7. Gathers, maintains, and shares qualitative and quantitative data for grant reporting
  8. Visits neighborhood library locations and community partners as needed

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  1. Demonstrated experience training users of all abilities and knowledge levels in various technical programs
  2. Knowledge of virtual reality as an educational platform
  3. Outstanding organizational skills
  4. Strong interpersonal skills
  5. Excellent communication skills
  6. Ability to present to groups
  7. Ability and initiative to work independently

Education and Experience:

  1. High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s degree preferred or working on teaching certifications
  2. Project management experience preferred
  3. Experience developing technology trainings for a variety of levels of technical expertise
  4. Experience working with diverse audiences
  5. Experience developing programming for teen and adult audiences

Terms of Employment:

  • Part Time (12 hours per week)
  • Evenings, early mornings, and weekends as required
  • Successful applicant must submit proof of required background clearances prior to hire date (PA State Criminal Record Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance, & Federal Criminal History Record)
