About BLACK MEN HEAL

Black Men Heal was founded in 2018 in Philadelphia to provide free, culturally competent therapy, education, and community support to Black men and men of color, recognizing the deep impact of systemic racism and intergenerational trauma on mental health. Since then, we have expanded our services to reach more individuals affected by trauma.

We started Black Men Heal as a solution to the following issues:

·      A lack of culturally competent care, which is the absence of readily available resources tailored to Black men’s unique needs

·      Stigma within the community

·      The cost of mental health services can be expensive, and most marginalized communities tend to be uninsured or underinsured.

Since our founding, we have expanded our reach to serve more individuals impacted by trauma, including youth and young adults coping with the effects of gun violence. We equip them with coping skills and mental health tools that build emotional resilience and healing. Additionally, we provide trauma-informed and psychoeducational group services to organizations serving returning citizens in workforce development and youth reentering society, helping them navigate reintegration with strength and support. Through individual therapy, group healing, and collaborative community partnerships, Black Men Heal remains deeply committed to breaking barriers to care and fostering long-term mental and emotional wellness in Black and Brown communities.
