Philly Give & Get announced this week that SCRIBE Video Center will be the nonprofit charity recipient for its second ever “date” auction” to be held Thursday, October 10 at Johnny Brenda’s.
Last April, the first Philly Give & Get combined professional networking with community engagement by bringing together a cast of local experts that attendees could bid on and then accompany for a night about town. Events included fun activities like bowling and seeing a ballet, but were also designed to give winning bidders a chance to gain professional advice.
This edition of Philly Give & Get is focusing on local makers and will include, in addition to a two hour class, an activity related to the maker’s field.
“Makers help to run this city,” said Lansie Sylvia, event organizer. “Philly Makers are a creative, economic, and philanthropic force and we want to help highlight and amplify their contributions.”
All proceeds from the auction will go directly towards SCRIBE to help bolster its video and technology education programs, which include workshops on audio recording, screenplay writing, and research and planning for documentary filmmaking.
