Local-food lovers rejoice. The popular urban-farming nonprofit Greensgrow is expanding to West Philly.
The Kensington-based nonprofit will take over the the former location of Elena’s Soul Lounge at 4912 Baltimore Ave. A fire destroyed Elena’s Soul Lounge in December of 2012 according to West Philly Local.
The new spot, named Greensgrow West, will be smaller than the flagship farm located in Kensington. The new location will have a fully stocked garden center, a small farmer’s market, outdoor workshop and classroom space. In addition, the new location will serve as a pickup center for Greensgrow’s CSA program. Sign-ups for the CSA open on March 4th.
Their opening celebration is on Saturday, April 5th from 2pm to 4pm. Greensgrow West will be open weekly in the spring Thursday-Sunday from 11am-7pm.
