Event: Citizens Planning Institute’s Workshop for RCOs on June 3 and June 20

May 30, 2014 Category: Uncategorized

CPI

Philadelphia Citizens Planning Institute is hosting free workshops on June 3 and June 20 for members of Registered Community Organizations (RCOs), and for groups interested in the designation.

RCOs are community organizations officially recognized by the city for zoning purposes. Their main benefit is that developers must individually notify local RCOs of projects in their communities. A bill was passed last January changing the qualifications for becoming an RCO.

The workshops will cover the approval process for construction projects in Philadelphia and the roles of the Planning Commission, Zoning Board of Adjustment, and the Department of Licenses and Inspections (L&I). In addition, participants will learn the responsibilities of being accepted as an RCO and best practices for conducting public meetings with developers.

Those who are applying to be an RCO for the first time will be able to get their questions answered about the responsibilities of becoming an RCO, the criteria used for acceptance and whether this is a good idea for their group.

When: Tuesday, June 3, 2014 and Friday, June 20, 2014
Where: Philadelphia City Planning Commission, One Parkway Building, 1515 Arch Street, 18th Floor, Room 18029, Philadelphia, PA 19102
More info: RSVP via EventBrite
