Event: Creative Skills and Resource Exchange at Impact Hub June 21

June 17, 2014 Category: Uncategorized

Artists, organizations and community members will come together at Impact Hub on June 21 for the Creative Strength Swap organized by Erica Hawthorne of Small But Mighty Arts and Amy Scheidegger of The Artistic Rebuttal Project.

“We realized there would be a benefit to bring artists together to share resources, so that’s where the Creative Strength Swap came from, because the easiest resource we have at our disposal is our own talents and knowledge,” Hawthorne said.

Part meet-up, part resource fair, the swap will include an interactive activity to help participants connect with one another to exchange skills, time or resources. The event will also help participants to identify what skills, strengths and resources they have as well as what they are looking for or are in need of.

Examples of possible creative strengths that people could potentially swap on Small But Mighty Art’s website include:

  • Skills: “I can create a basic WordPress website.”
  • Resources: “Space to rehearse? We have tons of it!”
  • Knowledge: “I can tell you thing or two about applying for grants.”

Participants will have the opportunity to gain new connections through networking. They’ll also receive a list of resources created from recommendations by the event organizers and participant suggestions. In addition, participants will be given tips on how to initiate the process of swapping resources or skills and how to make sure the process is equal and fair to both parties.

Artists from all backgrounds and organizations and community leaders interested in connecting with local artists are welcome to participate.
