Impact investing, a form of socially responsible investing, has become a buzzword in the sustainability community. According to Global Impact Investing Network, “Impact investments are investments made into companies, organizations, and funds with the intention to generate a measurable, beneficial social and environmental impact alongside a financial return… Impact investing tends to have roots in either social issues or environmental issues.”

However, it can be difficult to know where to start or how to transition an investments portfolio into a more responsible version that supports good business.

There is an event being held this weekend, by a group called The Collective, to help with this transition and debunk some of the myths surrounding impact investment.

The Collective, organized by Forsei Consulting, is a group of Philly-based businesses including B Corps, Sustainable Business Network (SBN) members, and other individuals and businesses dedicated to their community and the environment.

The event will go over the basic strategies of how to create or transition a portfolio to more sustainable companies. Tristan King, a representative from a leading financial advising firm, will also try to bust some general myths about sustainable investing.
