Applications for ArtPlace America’s Placemaking Grants Due November 3rd
September 30, 2014 Category: Funding, UncategorizedThe application process for the fifth round of ArtPlace America‘s National Grants Program is now open. The grant program targets creative placemaking projects, in which art and culture help strengthen the social, physical, and economic fabric of communities.
Since 2011, ArtPlace has contributed $56.8 million to 189 projects across 42 states and the District of Columbia. This year ArtPlace intends to support approximately 40 projects with roughly $10 million. Approximately 50 percent of that $10 million to be disbursed in 2015 is restricted to certain communities and/or artistic disciplines — one of which is the Greater Philadelphia area (others include Akron, OH; Boston, Cambridge, and Somerville, MA, just to name a few).
Several funders are also interested in ensuring the participation and representation of folk and traditional arts, Native American arts, and the performing arts.
In the past, several Philadelphia-based projects have been grant recipients:
2014:
- Asian Arts Initiative and Center for Architecture
- Center City District Foundation
- Village of Arts and Humanities
- Coopers Ferry Partnership (Camden, NJ)
2013:
- FringeArts
- Delaware River Waterfront Corporation (DRWC)
- Philadelphia City Planning Commission
- Breadboard / University City Science Center
ArtPlace is hosting webinars in the upcoming week about the grant program on:
- October 2nd at 2:30pm EDT
- October 7th at 4:30pm EDT
- October 20th at 5:30pm EDT
