Let’s Dance is Calling for Stories of Bop and Cha Cha

June 25, 2015 Category: Purpose

Melissa Talley Palmer is hosting a series called The Let’s Dance Project which will consist of Bop and Cha Cha dance instruction and story circle time. The project is designed to preserve the history and culture of dances in the community related to the music and dance movements in the 1950’s.

For the project, Talley Palmer wants to hear and document the stories of the community of people who have been doing these dances for over 50 years and continue to dance today. Participants can take part in the process by participating in the Let’s Dance Project developed in collaboration with North 5th Street CDC and hosted by Greater Olney Library with funding from Leeway Foundation’s Art For Change Grant.

People can call 267-259-3802 or email Tally Palmer at  at talleypalmer@gmail.com to register for free classes, which will take place on:

Bop (Mondays at 6:00pm): June 29, July 13, July 20

Cha Cha (Wednesdays at 6:00pm): July 1, July 15, July 22
