Makers, Techies, and Tinkerers– Knight’s Prototype Fund applications are due August 17

The Knight Foundation will "double down" on what works. July 6, 2015 Category: Funding

The Knight Prototype Fund application is coming up once again on August 17. Media makers, technologists and tinkerers are invited submit plans to take their ideas from concept to demo. With grants of $35,000, innovators are given six months to research, test core assumptions and iterate before building out an entire project.

The Prototype Fund supports a broad spectrum of ideas related to media, data and information; new models and technology to inform communities are welcome.

As costs of experimentation are dropping due to technology advancements, the Knight Foundation is looking to provide opportunities for innovators to test their ideas and explore many options. When successful projects emerge, Knight Foundation helps them to scale.

Grantees chosen by the Knight Foundation will start the Prototype Fund experience with a two-and-a-half day human-centered design and project planning workshop.
