Do you trust Pa. nonprofits?

Turns out Pennsylvania nonprofits don’t have a high opinion of themselves.

Last month, the Lincoln Institute for Public Policy Research and the Pennsylvania Association of Nonprofit Organizations (PANO) asked 177 Pa. nonprofits how much trust they believe the public has in their sector.

The results? As pointed out by Nonprofit Quarterly, only 10 percent believe public trust in Pa. nonprofits is “high,” while 31 percent believe it’s gotten worse. Read the full story

Other concerns included challenges to property tax exemptions, federal overtime regulations introduced by President Barack Obama last month (now halted), “deteriorating business conditions” and the state’s recurring budget impasses.

Nonprofits that took part in the survey largely pointed their fingers at drops in state and federal funding over the past five years.

Importantly, though, the public wasn’t surveyed. So, you tell us: How much do you trust Pennsylvania nonprofits?
