We don’t know for sure, but by now it’s safe to assume that nonprofits should plan for less funding and more barriers to getting their work done under our soon-to-be new president.

Make sure your organization is as prepared as possible with any of these practical, capacity-building events.

Driving Your Business: Women at the Wheel — Thursday, Jan. 19

High-profile leaders (who happen to be women) will share their tips for business success at this networking breakfast and panel. Speakers include PiperWai cofounder Jess Edelstein and Girl Scouts of Eastern Pennsylvania CEO Kim Fraites-DowRSVP here.

Nonprofit Nerds Philly Meetup — Monday, Jan. 23

The Regional Foundation Center within the Free Library of Philadelphia’s main branch hosts this bimonthly meeting of nonprofits professionals. This month, the group will discuss “how to advocate and thrive as a nonprofit in uncertain times.”

Understanding Taxes for Artists — Wednesday, Jan. 25

Yup, it’s tax season again. Filing can be especially tricky for those who are self-employed, receive grants or own their own companies — in other words, artists. Leeway Foundation has your back in demystifying the process.

Board Chair Boot Camp — Wednesday, Jan. 25

Looks like nonprofit leaders aren’t doing their homework: According to a recent study by Alliance for Nonprofit Management, 51 percent of new board chairs said they didn’t undergo any training to prepare for their positions. The Catalyst Center for Nonprofit Management is hosting this training session at Holy Family University for them.

If your nonprofit is looking to recruit volunteers or new hires, check out this job fair at Bryn Mawr College: Students from eight local schools will be there.
