Happy #GivingTuesday! Here are 38 Philly nonprofit campaigns to support today

Giving Tuesday 2018. November 27, 2018 Category: FeaturedFundingLong
We made it: Today is #GivingTuesday, the day when nonprofits around the world encourage their supporters to donate via the power of email marketing and social media.

Last year, we rounded up over 70 local nonprofits promoting Giving Tuesday campaigns. For this year’s list, we tried to be strict about only including organizations with a specific fundraising campaign or goal for the day — say, a board match, or an in-person event. They must have done more to promote the day than drop a “Donate” link in their Thanksgiving newsletters or promote a Facebook campaign.

(Psst, we doubt that $7 million the media company pledged to match will last the day, considering last year’s $2 million was gone by mid-morning, so telling people their donations will definitely be matched is a bit … misleading.)

Disclaimer: There are many, many local nonprofits not included here with ongoing end-of-year campaigns and matches extending past this one day. They have not been included. This isn’t a judge of their worthiness; it just means we don’t consider those campaigns to be true Giving Tuesday campaigns. (I mean, we needed to cut it off somewhere.)

And we’ve inevitably missed some! This list won’t be updated, but we encourage you to comb through the #GivingTuesday and #GivingTuesdayPHL hashtags on Twitter to find some cool orgs in need.

Aaaaand we’d be remiss to not mention our own Giving Tuesday membership drive. More details on that offering here.
