Monday Minute with Guelory Brutus

July 1, 2024 Category: Q&A

Who are you and what do you do?

“My name is Guelory Brutus. I am the Vice President of Change for Haitian Youth, and I also own a marketing agency. We serve Haitian students in Haiti, helping them with English and computer literacy programs.”

What do our leaders and institutions need to do to ensure that communities have pathways to well-paid jobs and income equality, opportunities for entrepreneurship, and access to quality education for all?

“One of the biggest things that institutions and organizations could do is to host more events like this, where you educate people about available opportunities. Most people don’t know what opportunities are out there, especially within the Black community, where we lack a lot of resources. We need to be exposed to more opportunities, especially those in bigger and better positions, where we may not have access to certain information.”

What advice do you have for leaders going into the week?

“My advice is to continuously have an open mind and allow each other to connect more one-on-one and develop relationships. Relationships can go a long way, and you never know who you might meet and how you can help that other person.”
