Generocity’s 2026: Democracy, Rights, and Young People

January 7, 2026 Category: Featured

Generocity took some time off to plan an ambitious year of impact and coverage.

Take a moment to review our 2026 Editorial Calendar. Our theme this year is Democracy & Human Rights. As we enter the 250th anniversary of America, our coverage will examine the promise that was made and how our government and nonprofits respond to and supports the lives, liberty, and happiness of our community.

Each month will begin with The Ledger, our new civic storytelling initiative that connects news and policy to real-world choices, everyday behaviors, and the lived experiences of Philadelphians. The project emphasizes the relationship between individuals, their communities, and the systems that shape daily life. Be on the lookout for our first story on February 4th.

In the second week of every month, There & Elsewhere: Solutions for Today will present a multimedia series that looks to the past and to other cities for inspiration, highlighting solutions from Philadelphia’s own history and from other places that offer lessons for today’s local challenges. Our first story in this series will publish February 11th.

The last week of every month will feature our Flourishing Series. This year, the focus is on young adults and what is needed to flourish in Philadelphia’s future. Our journalists will explore their needs and solutions, the context behind those needs, and what it will take for their proposed solutions to become reality. In partnership with young people from YesPhilly, the first narrative will be published January 28th.

The third week of every month will highlight stories pitched by, and sometimes written by you, members of our local community.

Generocity will also host a Young People’s Regional Congress, where young people from across the Philadelphia–Camden-Wilmington region will come together to make declarations about what local leaders must consider as they develop policies, programs, and plans for the region’s future and their own.

And stay tuned for the return of our CommonGround series. This year CommonGround is part of the uCity Square Monthly Innovation Exchange. Our first event for 2026 will be held March 19th at CIC, but make sure to come check out the first event in this quarterly series hosted by Wexford.

From our Partners

As your hub for regional social impact, be sure to visit our organizational directory, job bank, local volunteer opportunities, and, coming soon, our new event listings.

For 2026, we are seeking local leaders to share their tips, guides, and solutions related to the work they are doing in their organizations for our T.G.I.F. newsletter. This is an opportunity to highlight your organization’s work and thought leadership.

Our team will support you through the development process with deadlines and feedback, but this is your chance to showcase the impactful work you have been doing and share tips and guides that may benefit others in the field.  Learn more and submit your interest here.

We look forward to continuing to serve as your partner and regional social impact hub.
