ICE OUT

February 4, 2026 Category: Featured

Generocity is kicking off our Ledger series with a look at the ICE OUT legislation.
On Thursday, January 29 folks gathered at Philadelphia City Hall as the ice out legislation was introduced, led and organized by Tseahitu Abye, alongside councilmembers Kendra Brooks and Rue Landau. This legislation is about protection. It sets clear boundaries and safeguards the rights of Philly residents, regardless of immigration status, putting our city’s welcoming values into law so no one has to live in fear the ice out legislation will limit ice access to non public city spaces, stop city property from being used for immigration enforcement, strengthen limits on collaboration, protect personal data and make immigration and citizenship status a protected class here in Philly, during Thursday’s meeting, City Council also approved a resolution paying homage to those who were killed by ICE agents or died in custody, underscoring why this work matters as the City of Brotherly Love and Sisterly Affection, Philly is standing on business by protecting our neighbors by choosing dignity over fear. In an Instagram post, Mayor Cheryl Parker says she looks forward to reviewing the legislation.
