Cameron McConkey is working with Philadelphia FIGHT’s Youth Health Empowerment Project (Y-HEP) Health Center to lead a health needs assessment with youth ages 13-24 and develop a community-based model for healthcare delivery that expands health access for Philadelphia’s most vulnerable youth. Cameron is a public health practitioner who is passionate about LGBTQ health and social equity. Previously, Cameron served as a Research Operations Manager for Drexel University’s Center for Family Intervention Science. He is a member of Drexel’s College of Nursing and Health Professions’ Board of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, as well as a member of the Elder Advisory Committee to the Mayor’s Commission on LGBT Affairs. Cameron has authored articles on LGBTQ health and HIV prevention at QSPACES.org and has published several biomedical research articles in peer-reviewed journals. Previously, Cameron provided comprehensive HIV prevention services to a caseload of adult patients at the John Bell Health Center of Philadelphia FIGHT, where he also supported the “C a Difference” team in operationalizing patient tracking for people living with and being treated for Hepatitis C. Cameron holds a BS in biological sciences from Cornell University and an MPH from Drexel University. His thesis focused on strategies for addressing LGBTQ inclusion in domains of healthcare professional development and higher education. He plans to pursue a post-masters certificate in LGBTQ health from Drexel University.
