Laurel Mellin

Laurel Mellin, Ph.D. is a health psychologist and an Associate Professor Emeritus of Family and Community Medicine and Pediatrics at UCSF. She is the founder of Emotional Brain Training (EBT) and a New York Times bestselling author. Dr. Mellin's mission is to change healthcare to become based on a new paradigm in which people map, track, and change their own emotional wires, switching off reactive wires and activating resilient wires. At the nexus of neuroscience and spirituality as the emotional brain is the "seat of the soul," each use of the emotional processes to update emotional circuits results in a deeper connection within. Her most recent book is The Stress Solution, an introduction to EBT that equips people with one simple skill to get from stress to joy in three minutes. Her other recently released books are: What's My Number? (2020), The Stress Overload Solution (2019), and The Stress Eating Solution (2019). Dr. Mellin has taught courses in EBT at the University of California since 2008 and advises corporations on reducing health care expenditure through empowering employees with EBT. Her organization provides EBT certification training (ebtgoups.org) for first responders, health professionals, and educators. Her online community at EBT.ORG includes memberships of all levels, from self-study EBT with a mobile app to private groups and concierge coaching to prevent and treat anxiety, depression, addiction or obesity and to raise the brain's emotional set point for optimal physiology and access to the seven rewards of a purposeful life.
