“Philadelphia is far ahead of the rest of the state in terms of equality protection, and many of my colleagues don’t realize how different it is to live in Philadelphia than other parts of the state,” says Sims. “Most people don’t realize that in Pennsylvania, you can still be fired for being LGBT, or denied treatment or services by a private company.”
