West Philadelphia Promise Zone's Workforce and Economic Opportunity Committee created a listening space that, according to moderator Uva Coles, centered Black women unapologetically, respectfully, and honestly.

The next workshop in the organization's Rebuilding program series looks at responsible supply chains for local businesses and takes place Feb. 10.

“The context for why there are food access gaps is really different between rural Alaska and the west side of Chicago, but HFFI is a very flexible tool.” says program director Molly Hartman.

“Whether you’re new to this discussion, whether you’re deep into the mentoring field, or peripheral to the mentoring field ... I think there will be something for everybody,” says Abigail Ellis, the organization's executive director.

"These prison doors become revolving doors. Being in and out, in and out, in and out. That’s the message I was trying to get across," Jerome L. tells Generocity freelancer Shalon Bayliss.

The project's 20 short animated films — conceived, narrated, and animated by people incarcerated in PA correctional institutions — will be screened at Eastern State Penitentiary from Aug. 15 through Sept. 12.
