Music represents who we are, who we want to be, and is a powerful reminder of the work to be done.

At events from Juntos to Penn Museum, Southwark School to Fleisher Art Memorial, the catrinas will don their big hats, the calacas will show off their colors and the music will be lively enough to raise the dead.

"It’s a way to go into communities, meet them where they are, invite them into the museum, and then encourage them to come back," says Ana Gamboa, the museum's special project coordinator.

The mural at 5th and Huntingdon — which will be dedicated today at noon — is a collaboration between artists Ian Pierce and Betsy Casañas. It is also a celebration of community and of the rich Latinx tradition of political art.

"These prison doors become revolving doors. Being in and out, in and out, in and out. That’s the message I was trying to get across," Jerome L. tells Generocity freelancer Shalon Bayliss.

If  you create sculpture, drawings, painting, fashion or digital art exploring restorative justice and resistance, the organizers of the Institute for Community Justice exhibit want to see your work.

So does the Esther Klein Gallery of the Science Center, where it's being exhibited.
