Roughly half of all the money raised through donations tends to be donated within the first four to six weeks after disasters, says guest columnist Patrick Rooney.

Feeding America says demand on food banks since March has increased an average of 50% and it is estimating members will need $1.4 billion to keep pace with the exploding need. But some local food banks say donations have started to decline.

We asked the leaders at the Brandywine Health Foundation, the Foundation for Delaware County, GreenLight Fund, Knight Foundation, New Century Trust and the Samuel S. Fels Fund to tell us what they are doing.
