Jackie's House

About Jackie's House

Jackie’s House was started as the result of LaRica Grant, the founding President and CEO, meeting young adults who had been recently signed off from the DHS Foster Care System inside of the adult prison where she worked as a workforce skills instructor for several years. It was here where she was reunited with a young woman she met 10 years prior, as an 8 year old little girl inside of the long term residential foster home where LaRica worked as a Residential Assistant. The only difference was the little girl was now a young woman, age 18, who had existed outside of DHS for less than 1 year before she was arrested for murder.

Jackie’s House is a program which seeks to keep system and non system related young adults from entering the adult prison system through various methods of engagement.

Jackie’s House offers economically disadvantaged youth who have, either aged out of the Foster Care System, are homeless, lacks a high school diploma/ GED or financially lucrative career path, the opportunity to be connected with educational opportunities, housing, career training and entrepreneurship education with hands on experience. We use Social Entrepreneurship as a real world training opportunity for members of this population.
