Event: Eastern State Penitentiary Hosts Conversation on Mass Incarceration

The Eastern State Penitentiary is known throughout the city as a premier site for historical tours and, come Halloween, one of the scariest attractions in the country.
But it is less well known that the almost 200 year old prison also hosts lectures and conversations on important issues of the day, especially those concerning incarceration and the prison system.
Tonight, Dr. Anna Thompson, a historian of American crime and punishment, will lead a conversation on the causes of mass incarceration and what it means for our prison system and society.
Eastern State Penitentiary hosts similar events on the first Tuesday of every month. The 2014 schedule is as follows:
