Mayor Nutter announced a 2.5 million increase in funding to the Free Library. During this announcement, Nutter also expressed that cutting funds from the library system in 2008 was his biggest regret since becoming mayor. [Inquirer]

In January, seven freight cars carrying crude oil derailed while traveling over the Schuylkill Arsenal Railroad Bridge. 3rd Street between Market and Girard has long been known as “N3rd Street” for the community of tech companies and entrepreneurs that has flowered there. Now, City Council is set to pass a resolution making the nickname official. [Philadelphia Business Journal]

Public Safety Director Michael Resnick said this week that Mayor Nutter will sign an Executive Order that would reduce the extent to which law enforcement in Philadelphia collaborates with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
