The pharmaceutical company GlaxoSmithKline, in partnership with the United Way of Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey, is seeking nonprofit applicants from Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery and Philadelphia counties for its annual Impact Awards.

These awards go to up to 10 nonprofits and come with a $40,000 prize. This is the 18th year of the award program and the first year that United Way has partnered with GlaxoSmithKline to review the applications and choose 20 finalists.

A panel of community health experts will choose the winners after performing site visits and reviewing finalist applications.

Small, mid-size and large nonprofits are eligible and will be chosen based on their contribution to health and wellness through programs that address diet and exercise, access to care, community safety, education, employment, family and social support, and the built environment.

Last year’s winners include a number of familiar Philadelphia-based nonprofits:

The application is due by Friday, June 6, 2014 at 4:00 pm. The application is available here.
