DesignPhiladelphia Wants Your Event Proposals for This Year’s SHIFT

June 29, 2015 Category: Purpose

The Philadelphia Center for Architecture is now accepting event proposals for the 11th annual DesignPhiladelphia Festival, taking place citywide from October 8-16.

Working with over 150 partners each year, DesignPhiladelphia offers a wide range of open-sourced, independently organized, public programming to demonstrate Philadelphia’s re-emergence as a 21st century city shaped by design, technology, and collaborative business practices.

The theme of this year’s DesignPhiladelphia is SHIFT, which will explore the shift in design process, education, and practice towards a multi-disciplinary, collaborative approach. Each event will fall into one of the following tracks:

  • Patron – Support Philadelphia’s makers; source creative vendors and purchase design-forward products.
  • Advocate – Learn about the power design has to solve problems, create innovation, and improve the quality of life in our neighborhoods and city.
  • Practitioner – Network and get inspired through professional development opportunities for design professionals, faculty and students.
  • Explorer – Engage with design and learn about Philadelphia’s historic and contemporary assests through hands-on workshops and neighborhood tours.
  • Next Generation – Children and young adults explore design; its ability to shape their future and create positive change.
  • Enthusiast – Meet the people, explore the ideas, and see the things inspiring the latest trends in design.

The deadline to submit event proposals is July 17 at 5 p.m. An info session will be held Wednesday, July 8 from 5:30 p.m. — 7:00 p.m.
