Small But Mighty Arts Grant to Open for Applications Friday

November 20, 2013 Category: Funding

pilot-grant-2013Sometimes a small micro-grant can make a huge difference to an artist–just $200-$1000 can make completing the next significant career step in an artist’s life possible.

The pilot program of the Small But Mighty Arts Grant is looking to do just that by awarding 3-5 Philadelphia-based artists with up to $500 each to continue and complete a creative project as well as put their work out into the community.

The Small But Mighty Arts Grant will accept applications starting at 9 am November 22 until November 24. Requirements include that applicants must be 21 years old or older, not enrolled full-time in college, and live and produce creative work in Philadelphia, Montgomery or Delaware counties.

In addition, for the pilot round of granting, they will not be able to fund projects or supply/equipment funding for projects only in the concept or idea stage. They’re looking for projects to fund that can be completed in 2-3 months. Artists from all disciplines will be considered.

The Small But Mighty Arts Grant, created by Erica Hawthorne,  was a winner of a grant from the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, as part of its 2012 Knight Arts Challenge.

The preview for the grant application is available now. For more information, visit http://www.smallbutmightyarts.org/sbma-grant.
