Impact100 Philadelphia announced last night the winners of its ninth funding cycle.

The local chapter of the national funding network is a women-only giving circle that awards five awards annually — three core mission grants and two general operating grants — to Philly-area nonprofits working in arts and culture, education, environment, family, and health and wellness.

This year’s winners of the $100,000 core mission prizes:

And the winners of the $30,000 general operating prizes:

Winners are chosen by a vote of its 360 members, who have each contributed $1,000 to the funding pool.

This grant cycle marks the first time Impact100 has awarded core mission grants instead of programmatic grants, a sign of trust-based grantmaking.

“Instead of having us tell the nonprofits, ‘This is the best use of [our] money, we’re empowering them and letting them tell us where the money is best used,” grants co-chair Emily Biscardi told us last year.

In the past year, Impact100 has also revamped its Founders Fellowship program.

According to a press release, the group has given over $2.3 million since 2008.
