The Philadelphia Association of Community Development Corporations (PACDC) is holding its first-ever symposium of the Philadelphia Community Development Leadership Institute on Thursday, December 12, 2013, at the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia.
The symposium will begin with keynote speaker Carol Coletta, vice president for community and national initiatives for the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation. Coletta will provide insight from a funder’s perspective on the question”Is Philadelphia undervalued and overlooked by funders?”
The symposium will then offer participants a choice between four breakout sessions to learn more about how PACDC can help your organization succeed as well as recommend new ways in different areas:
- Creative Economy/Arts and Culture with Donna Frisby-Greenwood (Knight Foundation), Kira Strong (People’s Emergency Center) and Facilitator Sandy Salzman (New Kensington CDC).
- Expanding Food Access with Carol Coren (Cornerstone Consulting), and Bryan Fenstermaker (The Enterprise Center CDC).
- Community Health and Wellness with Sharon Roerty (Robert Wood Johnson Foundation), Monica Medina McCurdy (Project HOME) and Facilitator Rose Gray (Asociacion Puertorriquenos en Marcha).
- Communities and Better Education and hear ideas from Rahim Islam (Universal Companies), Marcus Allen (Big Brothers/Big Sisters SEPA) and Facilitator Gina Snyder (East Falls Development Corp).
The symposium is part of PACDC’s first Philadelphia Community Development Leadership Institute, designed to provide diverse learning and information sharing opportunities featuring innovative trainings, mentorship opportunities, and research and data sharing.
