Here’s My Chance, a local “creative agency for good,” was recognized as the “Rising Star” by this year’s Corporate Giving Awards. The awards are hosted by the Philadelphia Business Journal and presented by Wells Fargo.
The Corporate Giving Awards recognizes companies who are invested in corporate social responsibility for the Greater Philadelphia region. The “Rising Star” award is given to a local company that is currently doing great things for the area and has great potential to continue to increase community impact in the future. Here’s My Chance provides high-quality, affordable creative design and strategic services for nonprofit organizations and social enterprises.
Here’s My Chance stands out among the Corporate Giving Award winners because of its smaller size.
“You look at the list of winners and you have Wawa, Wells Fargo…big-time companies that have entire departments devoted to CSR…and then there’s tiny, little HMC!” said Lansie Sylvia, director of engagement at Here’s My Chance. “For us, it was never a question of, ‘How will we create the capacity to eventually give back to our community?’ From the very beginning, community impact has been a core company value. It is in our DNA.”
Other companies, including Fox Chase Bank, QVC, and Wawa, will also be recognized by the Corporate Giving Awards in categories that include creative fundraising strategies, hands on initiatives, role as a local leader, longstanding partnerships and social media campaigns.
“To me, the best part is the recognition that doing good while doing well isn’t a fad or a trendy catchphrase…it’s the way business is evolving, and it is absolutely a viable way to start a company,” said Sylvia. “There’s always been some disbelief that a creative agency can survive by only working with nonprofits and socially-responsible businesses…but that’s exactly what HMC does, and we’re not only surviving, we’re thriving.”
The awards ceremony will take place on July 24 at the Union League and will include a keynote speech from Don Smolenski, president of the Philadelphia Eagles. The program will feature a live Q&A by Craig Ey, Editor-in-Chief of the Philadelphia Business Journal, about Starr Restaurant’s “Support the Schools,” initiative.
