Matt Bergheiser

Matt Bergheiser serves as President of University City District (UCD), a partnership of anchor institutions, business leaders and community groups dedicated to changing places and changing lives in a 2.5 square mile area of Philadelphia. Since Matt joined UCD in 2009, the organization has: undertaken $8 million in civic infrastructure investments, including the creation of The Porch at 30th Street Station and the 40th Street Trolley Portal Gardens; launched the West Philadelphia Skills Initiative, a nationally-acclaimed workforce intermediary that has generated $41 million in wages for formerly unemployed Philadelphians; and created Project Rehab, a partnership that has led to the renovation of more than 120 formerly vacant and abandoned housing units. Matt is the founder of the Job Opportunity Investment Network and chairman emeritus of the Community College of Philadelphia. He is a board member of the Barra Foundation and the Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce.
