Sam Chenkin

Sam Chenkin (she/her or they/them) is an organizer and nonprofit professional working to make the nonprofit sector a force for systemic change. Sam is a trans woman, white, Jewish, and was raised with upper-middle-class privilege. After a 12 year career helping to grow the nonprofit organization Tech Impact, Sam started an independent consulting practice in 2020 – Reclaim the Sector – working at the intersection of equity, organizational dynamics, and technology. Sam's approach helps nonprofits be more effective by bringing the knowledge of nonprofit leadership, staff, and community in the same conversation. Only by surfacing and addressing issues of power and equity can the nonprofit sector build new approaches that address systemic barriers to justice.
