CREW Philadelphia is looking for a nonprofit to gift $20K

Here’s a resource alert for the local women- and/or real estate-focused nonprofits among us: Commercial Real Estate Women, better known as CREW, is offering $20,000 to an org that either works to bring exposure to real estate as a viable career option for women, or otherwise supports local women in a related way.

CREW is a 10,000-strong international networking organization focused on celebrating the achievements of local women working in commercial real estate. The Philadelphia branch is its founding chapter and boasts 165 members — brokers, engineers, architects and the like.

Since 2008, the local branch has distributed $20,000 annually to nonprofits with missions that align with CREW’s.

“We’re really looking for an organization that we can partner with and we can see that they money we’ve given to them is being used to help or educate about commercial real estate, and it’s wonderful if it can be specifically for women or girls,” said Susan Taylor, a credit specialist at TD Bank who heads the philanthropic subcommittee of CREW’s outreach committee.

Last year’s recipient, Girls Inc., doesn’t specifically work in real estate, but it used the grant money to educate young girls about real estate, STEM and engineering. Conversely, past recipient Community Design Collaborative doesn’t work specifically with girls and women, but does promote real estate-related work more generally in Philly. Other recipients have included Women’s Community Revitalization Project, Ace Mentor Program, Rebuilding Together Philadelphia and Habitat for Humanity.

Think your nonprofit is a fit? Applications for the philanthropic partner program are due by June 15.
