The Philadelphia School District could join dozens of other school districts who participate in a popular healthy trend known as “Meatless Mondays.”

On January 16, Rachel Atcheson, Philadelphia director of The Humane League, introduced a proposal at the School Reform Committee meeting to serve healthy, vegetarian meals one day a week in the School District of Philadelphia. However, School District officials said they would postpone their decision about “Meatless Monday” until the current round of contract negotiations were completed with food service providers.
