EVENT: Mergers, acquisitions, and affiliations — for the nonprofit world

August 11, 2015 Category: Purpose

On Thursday, August 20, join the Regional Foundation Center at the Parkway Central Library for a live webinar on nonprofit mergers presented by attorneys Don Kramer, editor of Nonprofit Issues, and Virginia Sikes, Tax Editor of Nonprofit Issues.

The workshop is designed to help nonprofits better navigate the world of mergers, acquisitions, and affiliations as pressure mounts on nonprofits to consider affiliations with other organizations.  The program will discuss the differences between mergers, acquisitions, affiliations, strategic alliances, and takeovers.

It will also discuss various alternative legal structures and the kind of “due diligence” investigation appropriate in considering any new relationship as well the types of procedures necessary to accomplish the goals, including the possible requirement for approval from the Attorney General.

In addition, through a series of hypothetical examples, the webinar will put these considerations in context for discussion in real life situations so that participants considering any new alliance can weigh the advantages and disadvantages of the alternatives.

Advance registration is required as space is limited; please contact the RFC, erefrfc@freelibrary.org or (215) 686-5423. More info here.
