7 grants and funding opportunities for organizations or individuals in Philly

July 9, 2019 Category: FeaturedFundingPurposeShort
From funding for Veteran housing, healthcare initiatives in Delco, and serious watershed preservation, to grants for individual artists and filmmakers, the money is out there.

But time’s almost up to get your applications ready for these seven grant and funding opportunities with deadlines in July and early August.

Before you hit the send button on the application, however, check out these tips from past columns by Generocity contributors:

Lansie Sylvia:”My #1 tip for writing a winning grant proposal is to include a budget narrative, sometimes referred to as a “budget justification.” A budget narrative primarily serves three purposes: It explains how you created the costs in your budget, it justifies the needs for those costs, and it explains any weird or surprising line items.”

Valerie Johnson: “Often, as a grant writer, the hardest part is writing the outcomes section, because many funders ask for specific outcomes that may or may not match what you’re already tracking. Or, for smaller nonprofits, no outcomes are tracked and there aren’t resources to put that tracking in place, which can discount them from the application completely.”

Tivoni Devor: “Nonprofits have many different types of funders, all of whom are looking for the outcomes that speak to them in the context that excites them.”
